ATA ‘secret’ I promised…..

Posted by Legal / Medical Interpreter on 10/12/2009

So, if you are reading this and you are not family, that means you subscribed to my blog feed and are eager to share, comment, and interact on the topic of legal interpreting and translating…..  Great ! You are the first of hopefully many in a series of interactions.

THE SECRET IS—> FOR $50.00, you can have ATA send you an old test that you can take on your own and then send back to them, and they grade it just like they would the real thing, and send it back again to you with the score, and the details of the grading (why and where they took points off).

I thought that was awesome when I found that out through their site… it isn’t obvious as to where it is…. but it’s there and it is a good investment I think instead of  $250-300 to throw in for the real exam to see where you stand with your translations before you get certified.

I think there is a catch to it though, and that is that you have to be an ATA member, or applying to be a member to be eligible to get the practice test mailed to you….  I have the downloaded form to apply for membership….  it’s very involved… I will attach a link to it below as well…..
